Developing your Website
The timeline below gives you a rough idea of how I work and how long each stage of the project takes.
Getting Started
1 WeekTo get started on any new projects I will need 4 things from you
- A rough site map listing the pages you would like on the site. This doesn’t have to be set in stone but it gives us both a good idea of what we will need to build the site.
- 2-3 links to websites that you like. These can be local or national competitors or just sites that you like the style of. It helps to give me some idea when I design your new site.
- Logos and Branding – I will need a high res copy of your logo and any other brand guidelines you have specifying fonts or colours.
- Photos – 5-10 photos to use when designing your site. Like the site map, these can be finalised when we build the actual site, and you will always be able to update them.
Design Creation
2 WeeksOnce I have the initial content from you, I will start work on the design of the site. Using Photoshop, I start with a blank canvas and design something specifically for your business and the needs of the website.
The design proposal is sent over to you for approval and we can make tweaks and changes until its perfect and exactly what you had in mind.
Initial Website Build
2 WeeksOnce the template is signed off, the work can really start! I take the signed-off homepage design, set up WordPress and build the template that will be the foundation for your new site. Using the site map I can create the basic site structure and add any plugins we will need to finish the site.
Content Population
3 WeeksProbably your biggest job in the entire project, providing me with the content needed to build each page. You want to be aiming for 3-500 words per page and I will need some images to go with each page.
Final Review
3 DaysOnce the content has been added and the pages/functionality set up, I will send the site over for a final review before we launch the site on its proper business domain name.
